FC Halifax Town drew 0-0 away at Vanarama National League North side Curzon Ashton this afternoon.

On a cold afternoon in Ashton Under Lyne, the Shaymen were held to a draw but gave valuable minutes for the players ahead of the new season which is scheduled to start next week.

It was the home side with the first effort of the game, however it was over the bar on 8 mins from Mahon, the ball was always rising over Sam Johnsonโ€™s goal.

Townโ€™s first effort came through Jeff King on 23 minutes, he collected he ball on the right side of the box, he cut in from the left and he fired his shot on target which was saved by the Curzon keeper

Just before the break, a good run from Curran and his shot was saved by Sam Johnson

A freekick from Luke Summerfield on the far side, Maher shot was blocked. Town looked to force the ball home and it ended up on the roof of the net for a corner. The ball in looked for Niall Maher but he was blocked off and it ended 0-0 at half time

The Shaymen started the second half brightly, Jamie Allen found a trialist, he got himself to the by-line and his cross was headed over the bar by Martin Woods.

Woods then turned provider, his little touch found Allen, but his effort was blocked and went harmlessly through to the keeper.

Jeff King cross from the right-hand side found Allen but he could not get enough connection for the shot and Curzon Ashton were able to clear.

Sub Danny Williams was booked for a trip on a Curzon player for the only Town booking of the game.

King and Allen combine, Kingโ€™s cross was put out for a corner. Summerfieldโ€™s ball in found Bradbury at the near post but his touch went out for a goal kick despite his appeals for a corner.

A good run by King despite being held found trialist inside the box but his effort was blocked for a corner, Summerfield ball in was flicked on by Maher but the home side were able to clear the danger.

Kieran Green had the ball in the net however the referee had already blown the whistle for a foul by Allen in the build up and he knew it would not count as he tapped the ball past the keeper.

Williams cross from the left looked for Allen but it was headed out for a corer on the far side, Williams went across to take, he found Maher at the near post who could only direct his header over the bar.

The final chance came in injury time. Luke Summerfield’s corner was aimed at Nathan Clarke at the far post and he headed wide as the full time whistle went.

Town have one final pre-season game with a trip to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday lunchtime.
