FC Halifax Town came out 1-0 winners in their penultimate pre-season match.

Town made the trip up the road for their second game of the afternoon, as they faced Curzon Ashton.

The first notable chance of the game came for the Shaymen. Tylor Golden sent a cross into the box, Alli made the connection but his effort was well defended by the Nash.

In the 18th minute, it was Jamie Stott that broke the deadlock. A corner was swung in from Golden and it was Stott able to rise high enough to head home.

Early into the second half it was ex-Town man Jamie Allen that almost got the Nash level. After beating Jordan Keane, Allen seemed to be through one-on-one with Sam Johnson but Adam Senior pulled off a great tackle to poke the ball through to Johnson.

With less than 10 minutes to go, Town almost doubled their lead. Rob Harker’s effort went narrowly wide after meeting Ryan Galvin’s cross.

Moments later Golden linked with Trialist who hit the ball towards goal at the first attempt. His long-range effort was just wide of the target.

Town are next in action on Tuesday night as they travel to Radcliffe in the final pre-season game ahead of the 2023/24 season.
