The big story from the Conference Premier this weekend is the resignation of Barnet head coach Edgar Davids. The club announced that the former Netherlands international, 40, had “resigned by mutual agreement” following their 2-1 defeat away at Chester FC on Saturday. Davids leaves The Hive with Barnet 10th in the table, three points off the play-off places.

Elsewhere in the Conference Premier, undoubtedly the game of the weekend came at Ewen Fields where Hyde FC and Forest Green Rovers played out an 8 goal thriller. Braces from James Norwood and Eddie Oshodi helped Forest Green to a 6-2 win over Hyde who won their first game of the season on Tuesday evening away at Welling United.

Welling bounced back from that shock defeat with a 3-0 victory at home to Woking. Promotion contenders Grimsby Town and Gateshead shared the spoils when they met on Saturday at Blundell Park; a late goal from Grimsby’s Paul Bignot snatched a 2-2 draw for the home side.

Second in the table Cambridge United were held 1-1 at The Shay, as Town managed to stay within touching distance of the play-off spots. The draw leaves Cambridge four points behind top of the league Luton Town, who were out of action this weekend after their game at home to Wrexham was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Hazardous weather conditions also caused the cancellation of Aldershot’s clash with Kidderminster Harriers and Braintree Town against Lincoln City FC.

Dartford remain in the relegation zone as Sailsbury City condemned Tony Burman’s side to their 11th defeat in 12 league games. There were also wins for eighth place Nuneaton Town who beat Macclesfield Town 1-0 at home and for Hereford United who gained a vital 3 points with a 4-1 win over Southport to pull away from the drop zone.
