FC Halifax Town recorded a 1-0 victory away at Chorley this afternoon courtesy of Cameron Kingβs 60th minute goal to continue 2020 unbeaten so far
Town started very brightly, less than a minute gone and thought they had taken the lead. Jack Redshaw found Devante Rodney, he headed past the goalkeeper, but the offside flag was up
A good run by Rodney, beat several Chorley men, Redshaw offered him an option but chose to go himself and his effort was blocked at the edge of the box
Rodney continued with being involved by getting himself into space and fired a low drive just narrowly passed the post
He was denied by Matt Urwin, when a ball played in behind Chorleyβs defence, found the online Salford City frontman and his shot was saved by the keeper
A fantastic save from Sam Johnson denied Connor Hall, on loan from Bolton Wanderers, Chorley maintained the pressure before Alex Newby scuffed his shot wide of the target with their first chances of the game
Jeff King found Rodney, he was fouled in midfielder but showed good strength and the ref played on, he found Redshaw, a touch and his shot was tipped around the post by Urwin for a corner
Alex Newby down the right, cross into the box was touched out of play for a corner by Jeff King, headed away by Nathan Clarke at the near post
Jake Cottrellβs cross found Connor Hall on the stretch, but his effort was never troubling Sam Johnson
The home side were close to scoring when Newby with space saw his shot was past Sam Johnson but cannoned back off the crossbar just before the half hour mark
However, Town kept battling away, Cameron King looked to release Redshaw, he was held up, back to Jeff King and his cross was blocked for a Town corner. Redshaw into the box but headed away as Town looked for the opening goal
Redshaw edge of the box found Danny Williams on the left-hand side, his effort at goal weas parried and the Chorley defence managed to clear
A loss pass was picked up by Cameron King, he raced towards goal but his final pass to Redshaw was just behind him and Chorley survived
Rodney was denied again, this time by the post as he set his sights on the Chorley goal, but his 25-yard effort was past the keeper but bounced off the woodwork to safety
The half finished with a freekick for the Magpies, but it went into the side netting to keep it scoreless at the break.
Neither manager made any changes at the break and Town started on the front foot again with Cameron Kingβs ball over the top for Devante Rodney, back to Jeff King but his cross too close to the keeper
Sam Johnsonβs quick ball up field found Devante Rodney down the right, but his cross was too close to the keeper with Redshaw looking to get on the end of mistake by Urwin
The ever-dangerous Rodney found himself by the by-line, he looked for the cut back cleared only to Jeff King, his shot was blocked as Town continued to push for that elusive first goal
However, Town werenβt going to be denied and took the lead on 60 minutes through Cameron King heading home to put the Shaymen ahead for the first goal against the Magpies in 150 minutes this season
Town looked for a second goal and a spectacular effort from Jeff King was all wrong and ended up out of the ground
Charlie Cooper long range effort with other options available to him, bounced in front of the keeper but never troubling him
Pete Wild made his first change of the game with Jack Redshaw replaced by Jamie Allen, then Michael Duckworth replaced by Cameron King
Elliott Newby had time and space but 30 yards from goal his shot was always rising over Sam Johnsonβs bar
Holroyd fired wide after Chorley pressure to cheers from the travelling fans behind the goal
Town made their final sub with Tobi Sho-Silva replacing the impressive Devante Rodney in the final minute of the game, who did everything in the game but score
A Freekick into the Town boss was cleared by Danny Williams into touch to massive cheers from everyone supporting the Shaymen
A win for the Shaymen on the road before four home games in a row starting with Dover travelling to the Shaymen on Tuesday night and followed by Bromley on Saturday
