Following FC Halifax Town’s 1-0 away to Chorley, manger Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game, the goal, the fans, and looking ahead to Dover Athletic.

“It was a really tough game,” Wild said. “We had to work really hard for our three points today. They gave us different challenges, but without really causing us any problems. They had some really good possession of the football but didn’t cause many problems. It was a real workman-like performance and we controlled large parts of the game. That one little bit of quality has got us over the line which was really pleasing to see.”

Cameron King netted the winner for the Shaymen after connected with Jeff King’s cross. Wild was delighted to get the win and for King to get the winner.

“I do not know what he is doing with his there,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “It was a great finish. He’s got a run then he had to jump on the run whilst keeping it down to get the goal. What a cross from Jeff as well. It was a really good goal for us.”

Total attendance stood at 1263 with the town fans making their presence known for the full 90 minutes. Wild was delighted with the atmosphere the fans made remarking it got the team over the line.

“The fans were excellent today,” Wild said. “That is the best I have seen them. It was a great atmosphere and they made that atmosphere. I’m really pleased we were able to deliver the result for them as well with the great turn out.”

Dover Athletic make the trip to the Shay on Tuesday night with Wild hoping for a similar performance that saw Halifax take all three points in the reverse fixture.

“It is a quick turn around and another big game,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We know Dover are a big, strong, physical side. We have got to be ready Tuesday night to back today up, the good teams back up good performances with another. It would be good to do the double over them. We’ll focus on the performance and hopefully we will get another good result.”
