This weekend’s fixture will be the first competitive meeting between FC. Halifax Town and Chesterfield, although Halifax Town AFC had numerous encounters with the Spireites over the years.
The most recent of these was a 2-0 defeat for Town at Saltergate in the first round of what was then the LDV Vans Trophy, now the Checkatrade Trophy, in October 2002.
The last time the clubs played each other in was in the 1999-92 season in Division Four. The Shaymen won the home fixture thanks to two goals from Steve Norris, but were beaten 4-0 away.
