Following FC Halifax Town’s 2-0 win over Chesterfield, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“I’m dead pleased,” Wild said. “You’ve seen a resilient side to us today. I think it was a good game. It swayed, the first half was a lot of us and then they got into it and they were probably the better team going into half time. We came out in the second half and had another goal, but arguably, their best spell of possession was when we scored our two goals. It was great to nip that in the bud. I think the boys concentrated well, they worked their socks off today, and I’m dead pleased with the result.”

Jordan Slew opened the scoring with less than 15 minutes to go after finishing off a nice counter attack.

“It was fantastic,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “It was a really good move. Break down into the box pass area, a really good cross by Billy, fair play to Kian who could have shot but chose not to and fair play to Slew. He’s come back into the team, he’s needed that break because he had looked a bit tired and by his own admission he was a bit lethargic. But that break has done him well and I thought he did well on Friday and he deserved his chance in the team today.”

Matt Warburton doubled Town’s lead with ten minutes left and the Shaymen did well to see the game out as Chesterfield looked to get a consolation goal.

“We closed the game out really well,” Wild said. “We were very composed in that final period, even when Bradbury got his knee injury. We managed to see the game out which is dead pleasing.”

Town make the long journey down to Essex to face Southend United and Wild is hoping for a similar performance.

“I know the boys down there well and they’ve got them going,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “It’s tough when you get relegated to find a foothold and get going again, but I think the boys have found that now. That’ll make it a great encounter down there on Saturday.”
