FC Halifax Town travel to Chesterfield in the Vanarama National League this weekend.

Ahead of the fixture, here’s a look at a selection of players who have played for both the Shaymen and the Spireites.

Tom Denton (Forward) – The only former Shayman currently playing for Chesterfield. Denton signed for the Shaymen in 2016 ahead of the Conference North season. After two seasons with the Shaymen, finishing top goal scorer in both season, Denton left. Denton had found appearances hard to come by under Jamie Fullarton and was picked up by Billy Heath’s Alfreton Town. After just over two months with Alfreton, Denton signed for Chesterfield under former boss Martin Allen. Denton has scored just two league goals in 17 starts.

Matty Brown (Defender) – The only former Spireite currently playing for Halifax. Brown joined Chesterfield in 2013 after impressing for Marine. After making just three appearances, Brown was sent out on loan to Southport and Chester. After impressing for Chester, he signed permanently in 2014 after Brown was released by Chesterfield. Brown was picked up by Neil Aspin for the 2015/16 season where he won the FA Trophy. Brown has since won the Conference North Playoffs and was made captain upon Halifax’s return to the National League.

Jordan Sinnott (Midfielder) – Another signing for the 2016/17 season. Sinnott was signed by Heath ahead of the Conference North season. Sinnott provided both assists in Halifax’s 2-1 win over Chorley in the National League North Playoff Final. After 35 appearances and seven goals, Sinnott made the step-up to then League Two side Chesterfield. Sinnott struggled to make regular appearances that season in a struggling side. After just one season with Chesterfield, Sinnott linked up with former boss Heath at Alfreton.

Dave Hanson (Forward) – Hanson originally signed for the Shaymen in 1994 as Town continued in the Conference. Hanson made 43 appearances and scored 15 goals before signing for Hednesford Town. Hanson later signed for Leyton Orient where he went on various loan spells. After a brief time with Welling, Hanson was sent on loan to Chesterfield. Hanson managed only three appearances and one goal for the midlands side. Hanson then resigned for the Shaymen for the rest of the 1997/98 season, helping the club to reach the Football League. Hanson made over 30 appearances during his second spell with the Shaymen before being released in 1999.

Other players associated with both Halifax and Chesterfield: Wayne Allison, Derek Bell, Jordan Burrows, Gareth Davies, Bobby Flavell, Paul Harsley, Alan Jones, Frank Large, Phil Morgan, Steve Norris.
