FC Halifax Town have started their season brightly with a 2-0 win over Bromley at the Shay Stadium.
It was Townβs first competitive game since lifting the FA Trophy at Wembley in May and secured victory with second half goals from Jack Evans and Millenic Alli
The first half started positively for the Shaymen as they created early chances with a cross cleared away and Millenic Alliβs effort outside the box deflected into the arms of the Bromley keeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe.
However, on the 20-minute mark, Bromley built momentum of their own forcing Sam Johnson into a brilliant double save after a poor clearance from the left midfielder.
Later on, Bromley applied more pressure for the Town through back-to-back crosses but were comfortably cleared by the defence.
However, the most notable moment of the first half was Bromley manager Andy Woodman being shown a yellow card by the referee just after the half hour mark.
Both teams had chances late in the first half with Jude Arthurβs free kick just missing the bar and Jamie Cookeβs effort dragged far wide of the goal.
The second half started with Rob Harker having the best chance of the game receiving Ryan Galvinβs cross from the edge of the area and his headed effort just over the bar.
The left back was involved again on the offence with a slick ball to midfielder debutant Jack Evans who produced a delightful chip over Sharman-Lowe to break the deadlock in the 54th minute with relief being felt all over the Shay Stadium.
Bromleyβs Cheek nearly struck back instantly with a header comfortably saved by Johnson at the back post.
Bromley made a sub in the 59th minute with Marcus Sablier replacing James Vennings in midfield.
Evans was booked just two minutes later in a decision that seemed harsh from referee Michael Barlow having looked to win the ball.
Max Wright arrived on the scene for Jamie Cooke in the 65th minute as Town look to double their advantage.
Town were gifted a golden chance to double their lead moments later with Alli latching onto a poor pass from Callum Reynolds and was caught in two minds whether to pass or shoot and the chance was not able to be rescued by Rob Harker.
Bromleyβs Cheek looked to make an impact again but headed wide at the back post.
The Shaymen doubled their lead with a brilliant pass to substitute Max Wright from Jordan Keane who squared it for Alli to redeem his earlier effort and for his first of the season.
Corey Whitely looked to bring Bromley back into the game with a free kick just over the bar.
Aaron Cosgrave was subbed on in the 81st minute for Rob Harker in order to see out the game.
Bromley looked for a consolation late on, but Krahausβ effort was way wide which summed up their frustration this afternoon.
The final whistle sounded in the Shay Stadium with The Shaymen picking up their first win of the season in front of a delighted Shay Stadium.
Town will be in action again next Saturday away from home to Boreham Wood.
