Shaymen TV caught up with Jamie Allen after the 2-1 victory against Bromley at the Shay on Saturday.

“It was always going to be a tough game, the conditions weren’t good, we had a game plan and we stuck to it and I thought we did well overall” stated Allen, when we asked for his views on the performance.

We lost to Bromley 5-0 earlier on in the season and it was only normal the Shaymen wanted revenge. Allen said “Of course, obviously if you get beat 5-0, were going into the game, we can’t let that happen again and that gives us that little bit of extra edge to do well, so yeah I think we coped with them well and caused a lot of problems.

Jamie returned to the starting 11 today, after an impressive substitute against Dover in the game before-hand. “I’m buzzing to be back into it, everyone wants to play, we’ve got a really good squad, especially going forward, so it’s healthy competition. Probably should’ve got a couple of goals, but we scored off the free-kick I won so.

Allen was brought down by Jack Holland on the edge of the area in the first half as Holland was dismissed by the referee, and we wanted to find out Jamie’s views on whether he was potentially inside the area for the challenge.

“To be honest, I’m not really sure, I’d have to see it back, but one of the lads has seen it back already and said it was outside, it doesn’t matter now though, we scored off it and got the three points” He said.

Next game out is against Halesowen in the FA Trophy. Jamie thinks they’re a good side and it’s not going to be easy, but if we put in a performance like that, he think’s we’ll be fine.

Tune into Shaymen TV to check out the full interview with Jamie Allen.
