Bradford Park Avenue: Supporters Club

Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. Local matters fit the bill today, with our near neighbours from Park Avenue providing the opposition.

Unfortunately, sad news from another local team has made the headlines recently. You will probably be aware that I refer to the tragic death of Daniel Wilkinson, who suffered a heart attack while playing for Barnsley side Shaw Lane at Brighouse Town. It has been suggested that we donate this weekโ€™s bucket collection to Danielโ€™s family, so please consider this when donating today. On the same subject, it was a nice mark of respect that a minuteโ€™s silence for Daniel was held at our fixture at Gainsborough last week.

Ill health generally seems to be far too prevalent at the moment, and while we wish all Town fans who are under the weather all the best, a special mention must be made of Supporters Club member and popular gateman, Steve Popplewell. We understand Steve has been diagnosed with a form of leukaemia, and is currently being treated at St Jamesโ€™s in Leeds. Obviously, we all hope that Steve responds positively to his treatment, and that he can resume his regular duties very soon.

Apologies from ourselves go to media team member John Tindale. John attended his first Supporters Club Committee meeting last week, but due to work commitments and holidays, a decision to postpone the meeting had already been taken! Unaware that John had arrived, we utterly failed to inform him of our decision. Dreadfully sorry, John; we generally communicate a bit better than this.

A reminder of our regular fundraisers is in order at this point, with a brief focus on the Goal-o-meter initiative. This allows individuals to sponsor any aspect they like about FCHT, for example a certain amount for every goal scored by the team, maybe a donation per clean sheet, or even a contribution relating to a nominated playerโ€™s goal scoring prowess โ€“ the choice is entirely yours. Part of the fascination could of course quite easily come from a fanโ€™s ability to dream up a new and/or odd item to sponsor. Whatever you have to offer, rest assured we will take it! After all, the whole idea is to raise money for the Club, so why should we turn any offers down? At this point, over to you.
