FC Halifax Town booked their place in the fourth round of the Buildbase FA Trophy with a penalty shoot out win over local neighbours Bradford Park Avenue.
The Shaymen equalised four minutes into injury time to force the game to the penalty shoot out and it was Billy Waters who scored the final penalty which will see Town now travel to face Billy Heath’s Alfreton Town on the 15th January.
Brad Dockerty put the home side ahead after just three minutes wih a tap into the net but the lead didn’t last long with Jack Vale equalising on 12 minutes.
Avenue went ahead again just before the break with Isaac Marriott drilling the ball into the net but they couldn’t hold the lead again as Luke Summerfield equalised again for the Shaymen on the hour mark.
Marriott thought he had won the game for the home side in the 89th minute with his second goal of the evening but Tom Bradbury broke Avenue hearts with an injury time header from a Martin Woods freekick to send the game to penalties.
Sam Johnson saved from Francis Maguire whilst Town scored all their penalties.
Town will now have to wait for our next game due to the Boxing Day game against Grimsby Town being called off today due to a Covid19 outbreak at the Mariners.
