FC Halifax Town were defeated by local neighbours Bradford City 6-1 with a dominant performance by the EFL side at the Shay this afternoon
It was the perfect start for the Bantams in the 2nd minute, Tyreik Wright found Will Swan who was able to slot the ball past Sam Johnson for the opening goal.
Their second goal saw Kayden Jackson capitalise on a poor back pass to Johnson and he was able to round the goalkeeper and tap the ball home from close range.
Wright won the ball and he combined with Swan before squaring the ball for Nick Powell and he beat Johnson from 10 yards out for 3-0 after just 11 minutes.
Town’s first real effort came fromย good run from Connor Douglas down the left hand side, he cut inside, after a couple of passes he was back into a shooting position but fired his shot wide of the target.
John McGrath’s side did pull one back before the break, Josh Hmamiโs freekick into the box wasnโt dealt with and David Kawa was on hand when the ball dropped in the box to find the net for 3-1.
However the visitors soon recovered their three goal lead A long kick from the goalkeeper was not dealt with and Small was able to do a one two with a team mate and tap home from close range for his second goal of the game.
Both sides had chances at the start of the second half, the closest was from substitute Trialist F for Town who hit the bar with an effort from outside the box.
Bradford got their 5th with a cross from the right hand side, it came to Harry Ibbitson at the far post and he fired into the roof of the net from close range.
Within a minute they had scored again to round off the scoring, a cross from the right was touched into the path of Bobby Pointon who again had a tap in for 6-1.
Town will be back in action on Tuesday night with a home game against Chesterfield, 7.45pm kick-off
