Tuesday night will see Billy Heath’s men once again face a 3-hour trip south of the MBi Shay, this time to Northamptonshire to face 8th placed Brackley Town.
The three points couldn’t be more important on Tuesday night- Saturday’s hard-fought comeback against Kidderminster will carry little significance if points aren’t collected at St James Park. The sides around us have all dropped points in recent weeks, and victory on Tuesday will see the Shaymen slot into second place.
The form charts between the two sides show positive reading for Halifax supporters. Three consecutive victories, two of which required us to come from a goal down, demonstrates the strong character within the club and shows the team are hitting form at the crucial end of the season.
But this league as we know is forever unpredictable, so despite back-to-back defeats for Brackley against Darlington and Salford (both sides competing for play-off spaces) at the beginning of March, this should still be met with caution.
Our previous meeting should reinforce this mindset- as Brackley brought our seven-game unbeaten streak to a crashing conclusion with a convincing 3-1 performance back in October.
Lee Ndlovu will be looking to strike once again for Brackley after he netted a brace at the MBI Shay, with Steve Diggin’s tap in sandwiched in between.
After two months without a goal the striker has found the target in his last two games. Let’s hope we don’t witness Deja-Vu on Tuesday.
