Ahead of Saturdayβs visit to Boston United, we caught up with Liam King to discuss the game, the FA Cup draw, and a big week ahead for the Shaymenβ¦
Captain Liam King is happy to be returning to league action after the FA Cup 4thΒ Qualifying Round, but believes the draw, which has pitched the Shaymen against Dagenham and Redbridge is favourable.
βWeβd have preferred a home draw, but regardless, weβll go there and try to get a result. Weβd have liked a bigger team or a team around you, but we go as underdogs so letβs see what we can do,β said King.
Onto the Boston game, and King is confident Halifax can make it six wins in a row at the Jakemanβs Stadium.
βBoston are a really good side, but weβre in really good form now so theyβre going to fear us. Weβre expecting a tough game, but we know we can win and weβll go there with the belief that we can win.β
βI donβt really like to think too much about who I score against, but Iβve scored against Boston a few times! Iβm always looking to score goals.β
With three games in a week, it will be a difficult seven days for Town, but King says the team is only taking it game by game.
βYou go into every game wanting to win and at the minute weβve got something thatβs working so weβll stick to that. At Halifax, we go into every game wanting to win it and thatβs what weβll continue to do. Weβve got the momentum and he have to keep that going.β
And as far as the early race for promotion, the captain says the league this year is tougher than ever.
βWith five wins on the bounce youβd expect us to be higher up the table, but everyone has stepped It up this year β if you look AFC Fylde, Harrogate, and Salford β theyβve all invested so itβs a difficult league, but weβre Halifax Town and weβve got the belief we can do it.β
