FC Halifax Town welcomed Boston United to The Shay Stadium and were looking to continue their strong home form. Town started slowly but grew into the game, eventually finding an equaliser through Conor Carty before creating several chances to find a winner.
The Shaymen got the game underway, but it was Boston who took control in the opening five minutes. The Shaymen defended well and kept The Pilgrims at bay.
Town started finding their way into the game around the eighth minute, getting into The Pilgrims’ box, but Boston’s back line defended well and prevented Town from taking the lead.
Boston had the first half chance of the game in the 12th minute, with Terrell Agyemang managing to get a shot on target from outside the box. The forward did not get enough power behind it, and True Grant had no issue claiming the ball.
The Shaymen started properly getting into the game in the 15th minute and almost took the lead after Raheem Conte crossed towards the back post, finding Tommy McDermott, but the winger’s effort was straight at Louis Chadwick.
Boston were the first team to receive a booking in the 18th minute, with Gavan Holohan receiving a yellow card.
Conor Carty had a chance to put Town ahead in the 19th minute, but his effort was safely saved by The Pilgrims’ number one.
The Shaymen had another chance in the 20th minute after a daring run from Ben Tollitt. The midfielder found space inside Boston’s box and went for goal, but his effort was saved well by Chadwick.
The Pilgrims started to get their own chances, creating a multitude of opportunities, but they could not get past The Shaymen’s solid back line.
Boston took the lead in the 30th minute out of nowhere. After a throw-in from Georgie Gent was sent towards Lennon Wheeldon, the forward held up the ball well, beating both Will Flint and Shaun Hobson. Wheeldon found space just outside the box and fired towards goal, beating True Grant and putting The Pilgrims 1-0 up. The forward claimed his third league goal, all coming away from home.
The Shaymen lost their footing after Boston’s goal, creating fewer chances and allowing The Pilgrims to have most of the ball.
Boston got the second half underway, but The Shaymen looked to improve on their first-half performance.
It did not take long for Town to get back on level terms. After some fast-paced football, Conor Carty received the ball inside The Pilgrims’ box after a long ball from Max Bardell. The forward controlled the ball well, letting it bounce before firing home a half-volley past Chadwick in the 46th minute. Carty claimed his third home goal of the season.
Town then took control of the game and had a flurry of chances, but Chadwick stood strong and made The Shaymen work for a second goal.
Boston received their second booking of the game in the 58th minute, with Sai Sachdev receiving a yellow card for a late challenge.
The Shaymen made the first substitution of the game in the 61st minute, with Tommy McDermott making way for Connor Douglas.
The Pilgrims made their first change a minute later, with Tom Cursons making way for Lenell John-Lewis.
Boston received their third booking in the 63rd minute, with Georgie Gent seeing yellow, before Town received their first booking a minute later, with Shaun Hobson also being shown a yellow card.
Boston made another change in the 66th minute, with Gavan Holohan making way for Connor McBride.
The Shaymen almost took the lead in the 74th minute after Tollitt received a long ball from behind. The forward took a great touch and found himself one-on-one, but Chadwick pulled off a great save to keep The Pilgrims level.
Boston made a double substitution in the 77th minute, with Ben Hammond and Jack Holmes replacing Levi Sutton and Ken Aboh.
Town almost took the lead again in the 81st minute as Tayt Trusty rattled the bar. The South Stand thought he had scored, but The Shaymen continued searching for the winning goal.
David Kawa replaced Conor Carty in the 90+1st minute, but Town could not find the breakthrough as the game finished level.
The Shaymen had to settle for a draw after coming from behind against Boston United. Carty’s second-half equaliser gave Town something to take from the game, while Chadwick’s saves kept The Pilgrims in the match and ensured the points were shared at The Shay.
