Boreham Wood: We’re A Little Frustrated

Following FC Halifax Town’s narrow defeat against Boreham Wood, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“We’re a little frustrated,” Wild said. “It took about 15 minutes to get into the game. Then when we have got into it, I think the goal came against the run of play. We were on top and building into it and then they get the goal. It’s frustrating because it is avoidable. There was two opportunities to avoid the goal and both goals this week could have been avoided. It is always difficult when you go behind against Boreham Wood because they just sit in with a line of six. We just couldn’t get over the line with a goal today. Both games this week, it isn’t like we have been totally outplayed in either of them. They are small margins and that’s football.”

Prior to the game it was announced that both Aaron Martin and Jamie Thomas had joined the club on loan from Harrogate Town and Preston North End respectively.

“It was a really good run out for Aaron tonight,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “He was a good physical presence for us and gave us something different that maybe we haven’t had. Jamie is an exciting technical player who can play anyone across the front four positions. He’ll bring real quality to us and we’re delighted to have both of them on board.”

Aaron Martin was handed his debut whilst Town made the switch to a three at the back formation whilst several key players remain unavailable.

“We just felt it would give us more strength,” Wild revealed. “I thought it was working but then at some point we had to take the shackles off and try and get back in the game with some changes. We tried everything we could to try and get back in the game. One thing we do from the side-lines is we make positive changes and we always try and do positive things to get us back in the football match.

The Shaymen travel south on Saturday to face Dagenham & Redbridge with Wild confident that Town can get back to winning ways.

“It’s another really tough game,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “It’s another really tough test for us. They come thick and fast and these are the games we want to be involved in. These are the games we want to do well in. Every team will hit a bump in the road and it looks like the start to this week has been a bump so we need to try and finish the week off strong.”
