Following FC Halifax Town’s narrow 1-0 defeat against Boreham Wood, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“We’ve all just admitted in there that it was not good enough,” Wild said. “They had more chances and the better chances, so it was only a matter of time before they took one of those chances. We played incredibly nervous football in the first half and in the second half we did not do enough to break them down. They forced us one way really well. They got their numbers back when we got into their box. We took too many touches and tried to force the play too often in the final third.”

Boreham Wood created a number of chances in the first half with the best of those falling to Kabongo Tshimanga who forced an excellent save out of Sam Johnson who went on to make several crucial saves.

“Sam has made some excellent saves today,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “I am not going to start digging players out now, it is the time of year to remain together. We need to stay focused. It has been a frustrating afternoon for us, but Sam kept us in the game longer than we should have been.”

Jack Earing made his return from injury coming on as a substitute in the 68th minute, however had to go off again just minutes later due to another injury.

“He had got back up to his max speed,” Wild said. “He had done everything he needed to do. He was classed as fit, but then he did his first sprint, and he has pulled up again. We will have to assess him and see where he is at. But that 10-minute period with the goal, the injury, and the sending off just summed up our day.”

Town travel to Dagenham & Redbridge next Saturday for the penultimate away game. With Dagenham in a good run of form, Wild is expecting a much better performance to get a vital three points.

“They have won their last six on the bounce now,” Wild told Shaymen TV. At some point that has got to come to an end. We will be working hard all week to make sure we are the team that puts their run to end. I am looking forward to the week. There is still plenty of football to be played and the lads have had a fantastic season and we are desperate to finish it off in the proper way.”
