FC Halifax Town lost 3-1 at home to Boreham Wood this afternoon in the Enterprise National League
Town boss John McGrath named an unchanged 11 as the Shaymen continued their losing streak with a 1-3 home defeat to Boreham Wood, with number 10 Abdulmalik stealing the limelight.
The first chance of the game was for Boreham Wood inside the first 3 minutes, but Will Flint cut out the cross. Good start for the Shaymen.
The first 10 minutes were end-to-end, but no team took real control of the game.
Town captain Cody Johnson had the first real chance of the game for the Shaymen but fired off the bar as the Shaymen pushedd for a lead.
Boreham Wood come close as a break from a Town corner, and the Wood number 10 breaked past the Town defence into the box and fired over
Major chance for Town as a goal seemed close before the half-time whistle; Connor Carty, striked over the bar from inside the box.
Town goalkeeper True Grant made a poor error that lead to a simple tap-in for Matt Rush, who grabbed his fourth of the season.
Into the second half, Boreham Wood came out hitting the ground running, creating many semi-chances at the start of the half.
Town with the first real chance of the second half as Douglas floated a beautiful delivery in, but Ben Tollitt headed wide.
Tollitt made up for his missed chance as he picked up the loose ball just inside the box, turned onto his right, and picked out the bottom corner with a lovely, composed finish.
Abdulmalik picks up the ball on the left-hand side, beats his man with a stepover and then a powerful strike into the right side of the Shaymen’s net.
He then caused mayhem and put a dangerous ball across the box, which was tapped in comfortably by , Matt Rush.
An in-swinging corner for Town, which was met by Bardell but saved comfortably by the Boreham goalkeeper.
The Shaymen created a few more chances towards the end of the game, but nothing really comes from them.
The Shaymen end with a three-one loss after a well-fought first half, but now onto Tuesday for the cup game against Derby Under-21s, 7pm kick-off
