Boreham Wood: It’s Good To Get The Minutes In The Bank

FC Halifax Town were defeated 1-0 by fellow Vanarama National League promotion chasers Boreham Wood at The Shay Stadium. There was a debut for January signing Aaron Martin who spoke to Shaymen TV after the match.

Martin was announced as a Halifax player on Monday evening after signing on-loan from Harrogate Town until the end of the season, “I am very excited to join the club and hope to get game time here,” Aaron stated on joining the Shaymen. “This stadium is really big, and I didn’t realise it was going to be this size, so I’m looking forward to playing here.”

Aaron completed the 90 minutes and spoke about how he felt his game went, “It was an alright start. I’m feeling it a little bit because I’ve not played a full match since pre-season, but it’s good to get the minutes in the bank,” Martin said. “It can be frustrating at times as the mind wants to do more than what the body can at this moment of time. I’ll be more of an asset to the team as my fitness grows over the next few weeks.”

The new number 9 went on to express his thoughts on the match itself, “In the first half, I felt we were going to get a goal because the team were doing well and we had a few shots but they were blocked, unfortunately. I thought we slowed down in the second half, and that’s just how football goes sometimes.”

Town’s striker ended his post-match duties by looking ahead to the next game, which will see the Shaymen take a trip down to London to face Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, “Once you’ve had a defeat, it can go either way but this is a good group of lads that are ambitious and full of energy, so I’m sure we will come out firing.”
