FC Halifax Town were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Chorley. Manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game, Chorley’s set up, our first 0-0 of the season, and Boreham Wood this Saturday.

On the game…

He said: “We dominated the game. We’ve had over 90 percent possession. What we got to do now is be patient. Teams are going to do that to us now, especially here. Teams are going to come and sit behind the ball and try and frustrate us. We dominated the game, we completely overran them. When they got it, they just kicked it up the pitch. Very disappointing, but at least it’s another point on the board. A couple of weeks ago Harrogate did that to us, caught us on the break and won 1-0. The only positive out of the game is we didn’t get caught on the break.”

Chorley’s set up…

He said: “There was only ever going to be one winner. From the first whistle there was only going to be one winner. Fair play to them, if that’s how they’re going to play all season, then fair play. They will pick up results doing that. They will get 0-0’s, I think they’ve got three on the bounce now. People have paid good money to watch that, and what have they offered? Preciously zero.”

Our first 0-0…

He said: “I don’t believe in 0-0’s. I want to win football matches. I like to excite the fans. The fans have just got to be patient. I hear them shouting to get the ball forward, but if you do that you play it to them. Then they just recycle the ball and hoof it back out. You’ve got to look after the football. Did we have enough shots on goal, probably not. We should’ve had more shots, but the way we executed and moved the ball was excellent. There is nobody in the league as good at moving the ball as us.”

Looking ahead to Boreham Wood…

He said: “It’s another tough test. They’ll come and have a go. Hopefully they’ll really get at us. We’re going to have to be ready for it. They will be tough to play against. Hopefully they will have a bit more of a go and it will give us a chance to get at them and get in behind.”
