FC Halifax Town are pleased to announce the signing of winger Ben Tollitt, following a season with Morecambe.
Starting out in the Everton academy, Tollitt was released and signed for Widnes in 2013. In his first season in senior football, the winger netted eight in 23 league appearances. In November 2014, Tollitt signed for Skelmersdale United in a dual registration deal until the end of the season. Following a successful trial in the summer of 2015, Tollitt signed for Portsmouth, then in League Two.
The winger made his debut for Pompey in a 2-1 win against Derby County in the EFL Cup. In September 2016, Tollitt made the move to Tranmere Rovers on loan, a move which was made permanent just three months later. Following a short-term loan to Wrexham, Tollitt was released by Tranmere in the summer of 2019. He made the move to Blackpool and was quickly sent back on loan to Wrexham, for another short-term deal. In January 2020, Tollitt was released and signed for Macclesfield Town, making five appearances before the season ended.
The winger then spent the next two seasons at AFC Fylde in the National League North, making over 60 appearances and scoring 17. This form earned Tollitt a move to Oldham Athletic in the National League. Following a positive first season, game time became more limited and he was sent out on loan to Kidderminster Harriers in the National League, and then Chester in the National League North. In July 2024, Tollitt signed for Morecambe, one of 15 who signed on the same day following a registration embargo being lifted. Last season, Tollitt made 45 league appearances, scoring five.
