Jake Teagle spoke with Liam McAlinden for Shaymen TV following Town’s 2-1 away win against Barrow.

Jake T: Another fantastic win here today, you and the boys must be delighted with the result.

Liam McAlinden: Yeh obviously we’re delighetd with the end result, we put a real shift in. Going 1-0 down so early it’s not easy sometimes, but the lads put in a real shift and yeh we’re delighted with the three points.

Jake T: Yet another goal for you today right infront of the 200+ travelling FC Halifax Town fans. What were you feeling when you put the penalty away?

Liam McAlinden: You’ve got to be confident taking penalties, and I took the ball straight away and I’m delighted that it’s hit the back of the net and that we’ve got three points, as we’re going into a difficult game on Saturday. We have to prepare properly and see where it takes us.

Jake T: It obviously wasn’t an easy game with Barrow’s goal coming extremely early and were on the front foot for a lot of the first half. But the second half was a completley different story, with Liam Nolan’s goal ultimately flipping the game on its head. What do you think was the difference?

Liam McAlinden: The first half, although we weren’t great on the ball, we showed what we’re all about. We conceded early doors but we dug in, we got to half time at 1-0 and kept ourselves in the game. And after we’ve tweaked it a little bit we’ve gone for it and we’ve ended up getting a result. So all over I think the performance was a really positive one.

Jake T: That’s back to back wins in the league now, but with the games being so close together (Fylde on Saturday) how were the preperations for today’s game affected?

Liam McAlinden: Obviously you can only do so much and playing Saturday and then Monday is really difficult period and you’ve just got to trust that everyone takes care of themselves. And how we kept going to the end shows everyone is and we’re in a really good shape at the moment so we want to continue how we;re playing, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves and we’ll go into Saturday’s game and show what we can do.

Jake T: “Pete Wild’s Barmy Army” was the chant at the full time whistle from the Halifax fans and it’s evident he’s had such a positive affect since arriving. But as a player what’s it been like working with him since he’s come in?

Liam McAlinden: Yeh it’s been great. He’s been doing a bit of one to one with me about playing wide left, as it’s a little bit different to what I’m used to so it’s been great. He’s brought a real togetherness to the group. And I’ve only been a here a short amount of time and the lads have been great. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but it’s really positive at the minute.
