FC Halifax Town make the trip to Barrow A.F.C on Saturday afternoon on Matchday 30 in The National League. Ahead of the clash, here’s a look at some of the players who have played for both The Shaymen & The Bluebirds…

Eric Harrison (Midfielder) – Harrison began his playing career donning the colours of Halifax between 1957-1964, making 199 appearances for the club scoring 10 goals. After leaving Town, Harrison travelled north to play for Hartlepool, spending two years with the North East club. Harrison went on to Barrow in 1966 where he made 162 appearances during his two spells at the club (1966-69/1971-72), scoring twice. Harrison is probably best known for being a part of Manchester United’s coaching staff during the 80s and 90s where he helped develop the likes of David Beckham and Ryan Giggs. In 2018, Harrison was awarded an MBE for services to football.

Danny Forrest (Forward) – Forrest played for Halifax between 2005-2008 after leaving his boyhood club Bradford City. During his time at The Shay, Forrest played 111 games for Town, scoring 14 goals. After leaving West Yorkshire in 2008, he went on to play for Crawley Town for two seasons. It was then in 2010 when the forward signed for The Bluebirds. Opportunities were limited at Holker Street as Forrest made just 14 appearances in his one season at Barrow, scoring two goals. Since then, Forrest has played for a host of Yorkshire clubs such as Guiseley, Harrogate Town and Silsden. Forrest is now Silsden’s manager.

Shaun Tuton (Forward) – Tuton signed for Halifax in 2015 after leaving Buxton. The forward spent one season at The Shay, scoring 10 goals in 27 games. Tuton then went on to play in League One for Barnsley, however found opportunities hard to come by, which meant he spent time on loan at Grimsby Town during the 2016-17 season. In February 2017, Tuton joined Barrow on a short term loan. He played 12 times for The Bluebirds, scoring once before he returned to his parent club due to injury. In January 2018, he rejoined The Shaymen on loan for the remainder of the season, playing seven times.

Ben Tomlinson (Forward) – Our current No.14 spent time on loan at Barrow from his then-club Barnet in 2016, during his time in Cumbria, he made 14 appearances scoring four goals. After leaving Barnet, Tomlinson joined Carlisle United in March 2017. Four months later, he joined The Shaymen on a one year deal. So far, Tomlinson has played 32 times for Halifax, scoring three goals.

Players to have played for both FC Halifax and Barrow: Danny Forrest, Eric Harrison, Shaun Tuton, Ben Tomlinson, Frank Betteridge, Phil Bolland, Joe Carroll, Alf Dark, Kevin Sandwith & Connor Thomson.
