Signing on deadline day from Braintree Town in January 2017, Simeon Akinola is a Nigerian winger who made his name in non-league football, making 109 appearances in two years for The Iron.

Contributing 36 goals and assists, itโ€™s clear why he was finally given his chance after eight years in football.

Akinola began his career in the youth set-up at Boreham Wood before making 21 league appearances for The Wood. During his two years at the club, he was sent on loan to Billericay Town and Harrow Borough respectively. After scoring four league goals in five appearances for the latter, they snapped him up on a permanent deal in 2012.

He made the move to Braintree two years later before signing for Barnet where he has since gone on to make 51 appearances for the club. His time at the Bees could have been cut short after he was on the verge of joining Lincoln City in August 2017 before the move fell through.

Akinola has started the 2019/20 season in some form, as he primarily plays as a frontman in Darren Currie’s set up.
