Niall Maher’s first half goal made sure that FC Halifax Town claimed another 3 points at The Shay Stadium as Barnet failed to find their shooting boots.

Town got off to a bright start after 2 minutes as Billy Waters looked to be running through on goal, only to be denied by the linesman and his flag.

Just four minutes later and Halifax registered their first shot on goal as Kian Spence found space outside the box, Aston Oxborough in the Barnet goal was equal to it.

On the quarter hour mark Jesse Debrah won possession in the opposition half before playing it to Jamie Allen who managed to win a free kick just outside the box, the free kick was swung in which the Barnet keeper dropped and then regathered.

Barnet managed to land their first effort on target when Rob Hall’s effort was blocked away from outside the box.

On the half hour mark Luke Summerfield played in a long free kick into the six-yard box which was well collected by Oxborough in the end.

8 minutes later and Barnet found themselves with a glorious chance to take the lead when Ephron Mason-Clark was charging through on goal, but his effort gathered no power and was an easy save for Sam Johnson in the end.

5 minutes before the break Aaron Martin nearly broke the deadlock when his flick on was eventually deflected wide for a corner.

Just a minute later and Halifax Town took the lead through Niall Maher. A corner was floated in before being punched away by the Barnet keeper but into the path of Maher who slotted it in to put the Shaymen ahead.

Straight after and Jamie Allen nearly doubled Town’s lead as he played in the ball from the right-hand side of the box, but nobody was there to tap it in.

Just before half time Daniel Powell had a shot from outside the box for Barnet which flew high and wide.

Barnet started the second half the strongest of the two sides as a free kick was swung in but didn’t test Johnson.

With half an hour left to play Aaron Martin rose highest to head to ball on the edge of the box which didn’t trouble Aston Oxborough.

5 minutes later Billy Waters was twisting and turning on the edge of the box before rifling a hot towards goal which flew wide in the end.

Barnet were not going down easy as Rob Hall again found space outside the box before trying his luck which went high and wide of Sam Johnson’s goal.

Just two minutes after and Ross Marshall got his first involvement in the game when he hit a half volley on the edge of the box which had to be well tipped behind for a corner by Johnson.

With 15 minutes left Jordan Slew was looking to grab Towns second, but the Barnet defence stood strong to block his shot from outside the box.

The last action of the game again came from Slew who saw another shot blocked by the Barnet defence.

The Shaymen held on to take all 3 points, FC Halifax Town climb to 5th in the Vanarama National League table while Barnet drop to 18th.
