FC Halifax Town fell short to win two Vanarama National League games in a row with a 1:3 loss against Barnet at Shay Stadium.

The Shayman boss Chris Millington made no changes from last week’s one to nil win against local neighbours Oldham Athletic.

The game started with a minute’s applause in memory of lifelong Halifax Town fan and former director Adrian Hall.

Halifax quickly opened the scoring after a great run on the left flank by Milli Alli who finished with a hard low strike which put the hosts upfront. For Town’s midfielder, it was the second goal of this season.

In the 22nd minute of the game, Harry Smith scored an equaliser for Barnet after a good corner display from the Bees players.

In the 34th minute, Milli Alli was close to putting Town ahead for the second time in the game, but his shot from outside of the box hit the crossbar. Just three minutes later Barnet player Sam Beard was close to scoring the goal, but the ball after his header also hit the crossbar.

The second half started with a great opportunity for Town’s Max Wright whose shot was denied by Laurie Walker in the one against one situation.

Ryan De Havilland hit the crossbar after the free kick just from the outside of the box in the 65th minute of the game.

In the 68th minute the Bees took the lead with a goal from Nicke Kabamba, who also scored against Halifax in the earlier game between the two sides. Two minutes later there was controversy around the situation when the referee decided that the ball didn’t cross the goal line after the strike from Town’s player.

In the 81st minute Mousa Diarra didn’t miss the chance and scored a third goal for Barnet.

The game finished 3:1 with Town failing to win at home since early December.

Town will be back in action this weekend with a FA Trophy 5th Round away game against Maidenhead United. Saturday 11th February, 3pm kick-off.
