FC Halifax Town fell to a 4-3 defeat in The Shaymen’s fifth pre-season outing.
It took 16 minutes to open the scoring. A defensive error left the Avro player with a tap in and Sam Johnson with no chance to keep it out.
Ten minutes later and Town had a great chance to equalise. Arian Allen cut in from the from the left and had a powerful effort, but the keeper pushed away. Trialist D then followed up, but saw his effort tipped onto the post and smothered by the ‘keeper.
Town did find the back of the net after 28 minutes. Josh Hmami’s corner was flicked on at the near post by Amari Morgan-Smith, and found the back of the net via an Avro man.
The hosts retook the lead within five minutes. A nice passing move down the left-hand side was finished well from just behind the penalty spot, with the striker one-on-one with Johnson.
The Shaymen for back level on 36 minutes. Allen’s cross from the left found the head of Hmami, who’s flicked header looped over the keeper to make it 2-2.
Avro retook the lead early in the second half, with a tidy finish low to Johnson’s left.
Town again struck back. This time Trialist F cut in from the left-hand side, took it round a defender and slotted it into the bottom left corner.
Once again, the hosts got themselves in front. A low ball into the box was tucked away on the stretch to make it 4-3.
