FC Halifax Town drew 0-0 away at Ashton United in their latest pre-season friendly this afternoon
It was the home side who had the game’s first effort in the 11th minute, Town goalkeeper Nat Ford though wasn’t troubled with a routine save
The Shaymen went close a minute later, a Angelo Cappello corner met the head of defender Charlie Hayes-Green, but his header was saved by Ashton United goalkeeper Jordan Eastham.
Midfielder Owen Bray’s cross from the right after a good run looked for Cappello, but it only found home captain Luke Burke who was able to rise the highest to clear the danger.
Former Halifax midfielder Louis White had an effort flash across goal as he looked to score against his former side, but it wasn’t troubling Ford and out of play.
Bray played the ball across the box for Trialist A, but his effort was always rising over the bar.
Just before the hour mark, Ford was forced into a double save. The first one from Jason Gilchrist’s effort down to his left and the rebound was straight at him to keep the scores level.
Both sides made a number of changes as the managers looked to give their squads more minutes ahead of the new season and one of the Halifax subs Jamie Cooke went close with just under 20 minutes remaining, but the home keeper was able to make the save.
A foul just outside the box on Josh Hmami gave Town a freekick in a dangerous position, the ball into the box found Cody Johnson but his low drilled shot was blocked by the home defence.
Hmami was put through on goal with five minutes of normal time to go but he was denied by the keeper with a smart reaction save
The game ended goalless and Town will travel to Curzon Ashton next weekend, 3pm kick-off
