FC Halifax Town made it back-to-back wins after defeating Altrincham yesterday afternoon. Striker Billy Waters made it three goals in three and spoke to Shaymen TV.

Halifax came into the game after beating Woking less than 48 hours prior, a victory which Waters scored in. The goal against Woking and his strike past Altrincham was added to an opening day goal verses Maidenhead โ€“ which means Billy has scored in every game this season.

โ€œIโ€™m really pleased to have got three in three, itโ€™s the best start Iโ€™ve had to a season,โ€ Waters said, before adding; โ€œItโ€™s nice to have this stat and say itโ€™s the best start to a season in my career, but the main thing is playing two games in three days and capping it off with six points.โ€

During Townโ€™s opening few games, there has been a cluster of players who have created chances for the Shaymenโ€™s forward line – resulting in Billy having opportunities to score goals. โ€œI was relieved I scored because I ruined the first chance,โ€ Waters said about his goal, then added; โ€œIt was a great ball into me, and I didnโ€™t realise there was a man behind me, so I shouldโ€™ve just hit it first time. Instead, I took a touch, and to be honest, I shouldโ€™ve picked Jamie Allen out at the back stick, but we kept the ball alive in the box and then the header came down, I felt a man behind me, so I knew I had to hit the ball with my left foot. Luckily, it went in.โ€

Billy then turned his attention onto the game by saying; โ€œI thought we did well, we knew Alty are a good possession-based team and that we had to be tactically aware.โ€ The striker went on to say; โ€œThe staff prepared us right today, as we all knew our roles, but I didnโ€™t feel like Altrincham cut through us at any point. So, we defended well and dealt with them because on their day, Alty are a good side.โ€

The summer recruit later spoke about how the Shaymen keep momentum to stay in the play-off places and push for a positive season. โ€œWeโ€™ve got to keep doing what weโ€™re doing and trust the process, the staff, and players,โ€ Waters stated.

He finished his post-match piece by saying; โ€œIn my last interview I did against Maidenhead, I said we were good that day and weโ€™ve just got to keep doing what weโ€™re doing. Weโ€™ve got six points out of our last two games and that shows what we are doing is good, and if we carry on then we will stay up there.โ€
