Following brief spells with Gainsborough Trinity and York City, Smith joined Mansfield Town. Whilst with Mansfield, Smith spent two separate loan spells with Aldershot making a combined 12 appearances.

Smith’s first season with Halifax saw him make over 40 appearances, scoring three goals. His second season with the Shaymen was similar with only two more appearances than the 2013/14 season. Smith’s last club was Matlock Town which he left in late 2018 after talks with the manager.

Dean Howell (Defender) – Howell began his career with Notts County, but after failing to break through, spent time with Crewe Alexandra, Southport, and Morecambe. Howell’s second spell at Halifax was blighted with injury and restricted him to just one appearance in four months.
