Good afternoon, and a happy Easter to you all. I wonder how many Town fans still recognise the traditional local holidays, working on Good Friday and having the Tuesday off instead? I well recall attending League matches on the Tuesday afternoon as recently as the 1970s.
Thank you to everyone who took last Saturday’s opportunity to vote for the Supporters Club Player of the season. Without giving anything away, nearly 400 people participated, votes were cast for 18 different players, and two players each polled over 100 votes. All will be revealed at the Club’s award presentation night after the Curzon Ashton fixture next week. A special mention must go to Adam Heptinstall, who stood in for collector Roger Bottomley in the East Stand at very short notice.
Today gives you the penultimate chance to purchase tickets for our End of Season draw. Sellers will be in attendance inside the turnstiles leading to both the East and South Stands. The usual selection of prizes is on offer, including a top prize of £150 cash. We really need to maximise our income from this source, so please buy as many tickets as you can afford. The draw will take place at half time of our final scheduled home game next week.
Now a further reminder that that the Supporters Club Memorabilia Stall run by Dave “Crocker” Crossley has relocated from the East Stand main concourse to the ‘pop-up’ shop adjacent to the main entrance. Dave tells us that most of his regular customers seem to have discovered his new position, and that takings are well up, suggesting that the correct decision has been made.
That’s all for now, other than to ask everyone to really get behind the team today, and to wish the team well in this particularly important game.
