FC Halifax Town drew 0-0 against AFC Fylde at Bamber Bridge Leisure Facilities this afternoon in the latest pre-season friendly ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Town created the first chance, a freekick by the corner flag was taken short to the edge of the box and Jamie Cooke’s effort deflected over the bar for a corner.
The best chance of the first half came on 20 minutes with Florent Hoti whose effort rocketed off the post and bounced clear during the first half.
Hoti’s corner was delivered into the box, but defender Jamie Stott could only loop the ball over the bar with his head.
Fylde did put the ball in the net, but the offside flag denied the Vanarama National League new boys the opening goal.
As the first half drew to an end, Aaron Cosgrave was put through on goal, but his effort was tipped wide by the goalkeeper for a corner.
At the start of the second half, Cosgrave was put through in the box, he looked to cut back to Hoti, but his effort was blocked.
On the hour mark Jordan Keane was replaced by youngster Ted Lavelle as Chris Millington made a number of substitutions during the second half.
The best chance of the game came as confusion over whose throw it should be, the referee gave it to the Shaymen and Golden’s throw found Cosgrave and he raced clear, he looked for Andrew Oluwabori for the tap in but his effort was over the bar.
A Hoti freekick into the box was met by the head of Jamie Stott but he could only head wide of the target.
Neither side could find a goal in a game which saw both sides make a number of changes in the second half and the game finished level.
Town will play two games next week with a trip to Ashton United on Saturday 12pm kick-off and then make the short trip to Curzon Ashton 3pm kick-off.
