Before the meeting of FC Halifax Town and A.F.C. Fylde, let’s look at some of the players to have previously played for both Town and The Coasters.

Dion Charles – Central Midfielder/Centre Forward

After beginning his career at Blackpool, Charles moved to A.F.C. Fylde in 2014 to presumably increase his game time. From his two years at Fylde, Charles scored 18 goals in 52 appearances.

Charles enjoyed a loan spell at The Shaymen during the 2017-2018 season playing 19 times and scoring 3 goals. In 2016, Charles represented Northern Ireland at an U21 level, achieving 3 caps.

Jack Muldoon – Centre Forward

Starting his career at Brigg Town in 2008, Muldoon played for Sheffield, Glapwell, Alfreton Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels, North Ferriby United, Worksop Town and Rochdale before joining Halifax Town on loan in 2015. The Forward made 12 appearances for the Shaymen, scoring two goals in this time.

After moving to Lincoln City from his loan spell with Town, Muldoon then moved to A.F.C. Fylde in 2017, making 44 appearances in the 2017-18 season, scoring 10 goals.

Bohan Dixon – Central Midfielder

Dixon began his senior career at Kingsley United where he then went on to play for a whole host of Football League clubs. In 2016, Dixon signed for A.F.C. Fylde where he helped them achieve promotion to the National League. Throughout the season, Dixon made 48 appearances, scoring six goals along the way.

The following season, Dixon signed for Halifax on a one-year deal. His time at Town was a frustrating one as he only made four senior appearances throughout the season. Following the expiry of his contract at the Shaymen, Dixon moved on to Stockport County.

Steve Haslam – Defender

Steve Haslam began his career in 1998 where he most notably played for Sheffield Wednesday, making 143 appearances across six seasons! After his time with The Owls, he joined Town in 2004. After making only two appearances with Town, he signed with Northampton Town for a short spell. Haslam eventually moved back to the Shaymen making a further 90 appearances across three seasons.

After moving to Bury and then later Hartlepool, Haslam joined A.F.C. Fylde in 2012 on a free transfer. Through making only eight appearances for Fylde, Haslam retired the following season, aged 33. Since then, the former Town player has re-joined his boyhood club, Sheffield Wednesday as an academy coach.

Jamie Rainford – Striker

Jamie Rainford joined Town on loan from Chester during the 2011/2012 season. The Centre Forward was brought to the Shaymen under Neil Aspin making 22 appearances that season.

In 2014, Rainford joined A.F.C. Fylde but after his time there was short lived, moved onto Northwich Victoria, Witton Albion and others. The forward is now enjoying his football at Widnes where they currently sit in 11th place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League
