FC Halifax Town are delighted to announce the signing of 6’5″ centre back Adam Alimi-Adetoro following his release from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on a two-year deal.
From the Republic of Ireland, Adetoro came through the Leixlip United academy before making the switch to Athlone Town’s youth setup. It wasn’t until a successful trial in the Summer of 2022 that saw the centre back make the move to England with Sheffield Wednesday Under 21s. Whilst with the Owls, Adetoro made his first senior appearance in February 2023 in a 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood in the FA Cup 4th round, coming on just after half time. During the Summer of 2023, the centre back spent time with Wednesday’s senior squad, featuring in a number of pre-season friendlies and was included in the squad that travelled to Spain for their training camp. After a strong campaign in the Under 21 side, where they finished third in the Professional Development League North, Adetoro was one of six youth players to be released.
