As part of the revised Academy structure FC Halifax Town are delighted to confirm open trials for the 2021/22 season.

We are currently inviting trial applications from talented young players who are either excelling within grassroots football or been part of/leaving a Premier League or Football League academy.

For season 2021/22 age groups we will be holding open trials for the following:

  • U11 (school year 6)
  • U12 (school year 7)
  • U16 (school year 11)

In addition, we welcome applications from players in the U13 (school year 8) and U14 (school year 9) age groups.  However, open trials will not be held in these age groups but based on previous experience and position we may invite players to attend training.

The FC Halifax Town Academy is designed to run alongside representative schools’ football, local clubs both at grassroots and professional level and offer players additional training sessions to supplement individual development alongside a programme of fixtures.

For the 2021/22 season the U14 and U16 will compete in the Junior Premier League (JPL). This will provide a programme of Saturday fixtures and the highest level of competition alongside a training programme.  This will be expanded to additional age groups for the following season, in the meantime friendly games programme will be organised.

We have devised a coaching syllabus covering; individual techniques and collective techniques that operate within in a tactical framework that links closely to our youth and first team.

Our programme incorporates the four-corner model of player development to ensure we recognise individual player needs (technical/tactical, physical, psychological and social) within the team environment.

We have a small coaching team of excellent coaches, and we are committed to provide the best and safest coaching environment possible. All coaches are FA qualified, first aid qualified hold the FA safeguarding certificate and have been police checked before starting to work with us.

The Academy programme offers a long-term graduation path into our youth team and shadow programme, providing a full-time football and education study programme for players aged 16-19 years.

Our youth team programme is developing a strong reputation for its professionalism and player development, most notably; Carl Rushworth (England U20 & Brighton FC) and Jay Benn (FC Halifax Town first team).
