New signing Jesse Debrah spoke to Shaymen TV after capping off his debut with a goal to help the Shaymen defeat Woking.
Debrah signed for Halifax in mid-August after a successful trial period, and began his post-match interview by speaking on his new venture.
βFrom the start of my meeting with the Gaffer and Chris Millington, theyβve pushed me to do well, and all the lads have welcomed me. Iβve only been here for three weeks, but I am so happy to be here.β
During his debut, the centre back overlapped wingback Jay Benn, before collecting the ball and cutting onto his left foot. Then from 25 yards out, Debrah hit an unstoppable effort into the back of the net.
βIβve never scored a better goal than that ever,β Debrah said on his goal. Before adding; βThe lads saw me cut in and were saying, no donβt shoot! But, something was telling me that if Iβm in this position then I may as well shoot; I did that and it got us 1-0 up.β
Jesse went on to say; βIt was emotional when the ball hit the back of the net – it was like a dream. It didnβt feel real, I genuinely thought I was in a dream – I started running one way and thought no, no, no. Then I ran to the fans because I donβt score often, so I had to prolong this feeling.β
The centre half took his time to reflect on the game as a whole and summarised it by saying;Β Β βIt was a tough game and we always knew it was going to be, but we grew into the contest well. Woking did start well, but fair play to our lads, we put our bodies on the line for the three points and thatβs the spirit we have. Very happy to have got the win in the end.β
Jesse ended the interview by looking ahead to the next game which is this coming Monday at home to Altrincham.
βThatβs going to be another tough game,β said Debrah. Adding; βBut, weβll go into that game full of confidence after winning today – and weβll give the fans another win against Altrincham.β
