Following FC Halifax Town’s 1-0 win over Woking, Manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“It was obviously a nervy encounter,” Wild said. “The weather is a big leveller. When we got going, we had three excellent chances before half time which we should have done better with. I thought come the second half, we had two or three more opportunities to kill the game off which we again did not take. They then started getting deeper and deeper, which we then countered by switching to a 4-3-3 to try and pen them in and try and pin them back.

Town had to wait until the 73rd minute to get the winning goal courtesy of a Jake Hyde strike against his former team.

“It was a great ball by Luke Summerfield,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “When a team is in such a low block you have got to over the block and it was a great ball for Jake Hyde to go and do what he does best. Jake has had three or four opportunities, but he just got the one tonight. That is why we brought him to the club as he gets us important goals in important games.”

The result capped a positive few months for the Shaymen having averaged over two points a game since the beginning of March.

“That is now 29 points in the last two months,” Wild said. “That is an incredible effort from all the players and the staff. They all need to be commended for their efforts. If you look at that, we now have 10 points more than after the same number of games last season. We now go into the last month of the season in really good shape. We are all very hopeful we can finish the job off.”

Town host Stockport County on Saturday with both sides coming into the game in good form as they look to secure a playoff spot.

“The games start to fly out now after Monday,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “That is great because we have put a lot of effort into the last two months. Now we are looking forward to preparing for Stockport. The boot is now on the other foot, we can express ourselves against a better side. We always seem to stand up to the challenge and I hope we do again on Saturday. We will then roll into the last month of the season and see where that takes us.”
