Saturday the 20th of October sees FC Halifax Town travel to Warrington Town FC in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round.

Jamie Fullarton’s men will be looking to keep progressing through the competition and be one of the names in the draw for the first-round proper on the 22nd of October.

There a couple of players who have turned out for both teams in the past few years and we will be looking at them now.

Mekhi McLeod

The first player to cover is current FC Halifax Town player Mekhi McLeod who joined The Yellows in the first half of this year but failed to make an appearance for the club. The winger who signed for The Shaymen from this summer following his release from Accrington Stanley is yet to make his first start for the club.

He started his career at Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers in 2016. After making no appearances for the Glaswegian side he joined Isthmian League side Ware F.C. He then joined VCD Athletic of the same league for the 2016/17 season. Before joining Eastleigh where he made 5 appearances.

During the 2017 season he joined Billericay Town making 10 outings and scoring twice. This led to McLeod joining Accrington Stanley in 2017/18 making 10 appearances in League Two whilst finding himself being shipped out on loan twice that season. The first being to Southport where he played twice and the second being a loan to Warrington Town where he failed to make an appearance.

Connor Hughes

The second player to turn out for both teams is Connor Hughes who currently plays for Curzon Ashton. Hughes played for The Shaymen in the 2015/16 season making 41 appearances where his managed to score 4 goals and played for Warrington Town in 2017.

He started his career in 2011 making his Football League debut at Oldham Athletic where he made 8 appearances before moving to Hyde in 2013 where he spent two years of his career amassing 62 appearances and finding the net on 10 occasions. It was after this spell at Hyde that he joined FC Halifax Town spending a year there and enjoyed a spell on loan at Bradford Park Avenue turning out 4 times.

After his spell at The Shay he moved to Worcester City in 2016 before then moving to Warrington Town in 2017. A brief spell at Stalybridge Celtic in the 2017/18 campaign came before he found his current team of Curzon Ashton.
