FC Halifax Town started the new season with a 2-0 away win at Cressing Road over last season’s promoted Vanarama National League South side Braintree Town.
Jonathan Edwards and Nathan Clarke got the goals on their competitive debuts for the Shaymen.
In the other games, tonight’s visitors Barrow AFC were 3-0 winners over the other promoted side from the South Havant & Waterlooville. Two goals from Jack Hindle and one from Tyler Smith sealed the points for the Bluebirds.
Gateshead made the long trip south to take on Maidenhead United and would be returning up the A1 with all three points. Former Town striker Scott Boden was on target in the middle of goals from Greg Olley and Luke Armstrong to put them into a three-goal lead. James Comley got an injury time consolation for the hosts.
Andrew Bond put AFC Fylde ahead at the Mill in their game against Bromley, Jordan Higgs equalised on 63 minutes, but Danny Rowe got his first goal of the season five minutes later to secure the points.
Angelo Balanta got the only goal of the goal for Boreham Wood in their home game against Dagenham & Redbridge, the Daggers finished the game with 10 men as Ben Goodliffe was sent off in the 89th minute.
Former Town loanee Mike Fondop-Talom got the only goal of the game for his new side Wrexham as they won 1-0 away at the Crabble against Dover Athletic.
Paul McCallum scored for Eastleigh in the 77th minute but Solihull were the victors with two goals in the final 10 minutes through Addillahie Yussuf and Daniel Sweeney
Chesterfield started life in the Vanarama National with a win down at Ebbsfleet United. They were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute and Zavon Hines made no mistake
Charles Clough put Sutton United ahead at Harrogate before Jonathan Muldoon equalised on the hour mark. Kelvin Langmead put the North Yorkshire side ahead with four minutes remaining, but James Collins equalised three minutes into injury time for a share of the spoils.
Two goals in a minute between Maidstone United and Hartlepool see them share the points. Blair Turgott put the Stones ahead before Liam Noble equalised for the visitors
In the early kick-off on BT Sport Salford City started life in the National with a goal just after the break from Rory Gaffney but they were denied their first win with a late Josh Coulson goal for Leyton Orient
