Last night there were five games played in the Vanarama National League.
Forest Green seized upon the opportunity to go top of the table after beating, bottom of the table, Ebbsfleet 3-1 at home, courtesy of goals from Kyle McAllister, Jamie Robson and Tom Knowles. They find themselves first, overtaking Barnet for the top spot, who failed to defeat York City away, despite being 1-0 up in the first half. The Minstermen’s spirited comeback saw the Yorkshire club also overtake Barnet, for the second spot in the league, as a reward for a fantastic start to the season.
Rochdale sit just behind Barnet after beating Halifax 2-1 at home. A late goal by Connor McBride denied the Shaymen a point and saw them remain in 7th place, with Rochdale, on the flipside, jumping up to 4th in the table.
Late drama in the Dagenham & Redbridge game saw both teams go home with a point, after Eastleigh’s Paul McCallum equalised in the 93rd minute to bring the game to 2-2. As a result, both teams finish in reachable distance from the playoff positions as well as Dag & Red climbing up a place in the table.
Tamworth and Yeovil also found themselves at deadlock, having finished their fixture at a stalemate. A win for Yeovil would have seen them jump above Halifax and claim a spot in the playoff positions and Tamworth could drop a possible two places if Altrincham and Sutton both win their games tonight.
Another 2-2 fixture in the Vanarama National League between Maidenhead and Oldham was decided after Maidenhead failed to keep hold of their 2-0 lead. Oldham’s point allows them to go level on points with 5th place Gateshead, who play Sutton tonight, whereas Maidenhead could drop a place if Woking find triumph away at Solihull Moors.
