With FC Halifax Town hosting Tranmere Rovers this weekend, here is the latest news from the other competitors in the Vanarama National League.

League leaders Macclesfield have announced that assistant manager Steve Watson has left the club to take up the vacant managerial position at Gateshead Football Club.

Their club statement states that โ€œWatson will now take up his first senior management position after serving as our assistant manager and his earlier coaching roles at Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City.โ€

Watson will take over from Neil Aspin, who had vacated the club to manage Port Vale last Wednesday.

The date for the cross-border derby at Chester FC has moved to allow BT Sport to televise the match.

BT Sport have announced that they will be showing the Vanarama National League cross-border derby between Chester FC and Wrexham live on Wednesday, 8th November 2017, kicking-off at 7.45pm on BT Sport 1.

Maidstoneโ€™s Alex Wynter has linked up with his England C teammates at a training camp in Lilleshall.

The defender is part of a 22-man squad that team boss Paul Fairclough will whittle down to 16 for a match in Slovakia next month.

Wynter joined Maidstone on the eve of the new season and has featured in all but one game so far as well as establishing himself at the heart of the Stones defence.

Leyton Orient have confirmed the loan signing of David Gregory from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, as a result of a recent injury to the O’s goalkeeper Charlie Grainger.

The 21-year-old has joined Orient on an initial 28-day loan. Gregory spentย the back end of the 2013-14 season out on loan at Sutton United and Bishop’s Stortford, where he impressed.

Finally, Barrowโ€™s Jordan Thompson youth loan has been extended for another month.

Jordon began his career in the academy system at Queens Park Rangers before joining Coventry City. He moved to Barrow on loan in September 2017 and made his debut in the home game against Torquay United.

His initial deal was set to end on Saturday, with the extension running until November 14th.
