FC Halifax Town Niall Maher believes Town were unlucky to lose 1-0 against Torquay on Saturday, but they remain focused on ending the season well.

“I thought it was an even game, there wasn’t much in it, there’s a lot of decisions that went against us today, but we don’t make any excuses, we roll our sleeves up and we go again next week,” said Maher to Shaymen TV after the game.

This was Town’s 4th game within a week, proving a big challenge to the squad.

“We can’t make any excuses, we have a big squad, so you don’t say 4 games in a week is to blame for this.”

“We have shown character, everyone right through the squad, to the boys that aren’t involved during the week, we have to count on every individual.”

“We have got 7 out of 12 points, our aim was to get all 12 but we fell short of that, yet again we continue to worry about ourselves towards the end of the year and get as points as we can.”

Town now look forward to Saturday when they take on Tranmere at The Shay.

“We have done what we have to do, we focus on ourselves now and hopefully we can go and ruin Tranmere’s promotions as well.”
