FC Halifax Town are looking to defend their top position in the Vanarama National League table when they travel the long way down south to face Sutton United FC at Gander Green Lane Stadium on Saturday the 1st of September 2018.

The Shaymen kept their 100% home record against Gateshead on the bank holiday Monday. A brilliant goal from Jordan Preston, who signed with Halifax this season from the visitor’s side, just before half time won Town the three points and brought them up from fourth to first place in the table, pushing Wrexham down to the second.

Jamie Fullarton’s side lost their last two away games but they did not miss out to score at least one goal and fight until the end for the three points. The goal-scoring form of the Shaymen so far is exceptional:  Jonathan Edwards, Matty Kosylo, Dayle Southwell and Nathan Clarke each scored twice. Cameron King and Matthew Brown also contributed to the scoring, both placing the ball in the net.

Sutton United also remain unbeaten at home, having won twice and drawn one match but they suffered a two to one loss against Aldershot Town on Monday. With top-scorers Ross Lafayette and Jamie Collins, who both so far scored four goals for their team this season, the hosts will look to bounce back against the visitors from Yorkshire.
