FC Halifax Town will go into their final league match on Sunday afternoon having already guaranteed a top four finish in the Vanarama National League.

The Shaymen will finish either 3rd or 4th depending on the result at Edgeley Park against league leaders Stockport County and the Boreham Wood vs Solihull Moors match.

Town know that they need a result at Stockport and hope that Solihull drop points in their match as the two sides both sit on 84 points but the Moors have a better goal difference of +6.

Pete Wild’s side have lost just once in the last 9 games which was a 1-0 defeat at Southend United and will be looking to make it three wins from four as the league season comes to a close.

However Town will face the league leaders Stockport County who need just a point to be crowned the Vanarama National League champions.

Their 1-0 home over Torquay United in midweek puts them into the driving seat over 2nd placed Wrexham three points above their promotion chasing rivals. A win for the Red Dragons and defeat for County would see Wrexham win the title on goal difference.

Stockport have picked up 36 points from the last 48 on offer, but they have lost four times in their last 7 games going into this one. That was on the back of a run of 17 wins and a draw in their previous 18 games.

Their top scorer is Paddy Madden with 23 goals in 42 appearances

County have some familiar faces in their squad with defender Liam Hogan, striker Scott Quigley and Elliot Newby have all played for the Shaymen.

The match is all ticket and we have just a few tickets left for the Halifax end at the ground on Saturday between 10am and 2pm – info here
