The Shaymen saw their ten game unbeaten run come to an end at Southport on Monday due to a second half comeback from the hosts.
Marlon Jackson worked tirelessly for Town in the second half, we got his thoughts shortly after full time:
“It was a bit below par from ourselves, the result didn’t go our way, we haven’t been playing as well as we have been doing, the ten game run is massive and the things that we have been doing well we didn’t really do today.
“We didn’t really get our game going, we obviously got our goal and we were kind of hanging on there at the beginning which was disappointing because we have been playing such good stuff.”
Jackson played from the right before switching to a more central position, Jackson commented on his own performance, however stressed that the final score is all that matters:
“I think I did alright but obviously my performance doesn’t matter it’s the result isn’t it at the end of the day which didn’t go our way so it was frustrating because we lost the game.”
Southport drew at Gateshead on Good Friday and therefore had an extra days rest on FC Halifax Town, Jackson was left bemused why Town didn’t play the same time as Southport:
“I think it is a bit ridiculous they played the day before us, everyone could have played exactly the same day and had an extra day’s rest, it was a bit fatigue we looked a bit leggy out there and obviously the had an extra day. We had to travel as well so I think that killed us a little.”
Jackson reflected after the game and before the 1-1 draw between Barnet and Braintree of Town’s play off aMBition:
“It is in our own hands like it was today so we only have ourselves to blame if we don’t get there. We have got every faith because our home record is unbelievable, if we keep doing what we have been doing then we can do it.”
