FC Halifax Town will be going up against up against a familiar foe on Tuesday the 31st of October, as The Shaymen will be facing Solihull Moors for an eighth time in the club’s history.

With that mind, we decided to look at the previous seven matches played against the West Midlands based side.

29/10/11 – Solihull Moors 0-1 FC Halifax Town

Having overcome the likes of Tadcaster Albion and Lancaster City, Halifax faced league rivals Solihull away from home in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup – the prospect of playing in the First Round was the prize for the winners. Thankfully for Town, Danny Holland scored the winner in the 74th minute of the game, having just come in place of Aaron Hardy fifteen minutes earlier. The Shaymen would go on to face League One side Charlton Athletic in a televised fixture in the first round, where they would lose 4-0.

16/11/11 FC Halifax Town 0-0 Solihull Moors

Nearly three weeks on from the FA Cup tie against The Moors, Town would face Solihull again, this time in league action. Neither side were able to find the net this time however, resulting in a bore draw.

28/4/12 – Solihull Moors 1-2 FC Halifax Town

For the third time during the 2011/12 season, Halifax played Solihull, this time on the last day of the season. Once again, The Shaymen were victorious over The Moors. Town’s first goals came from Lee Gregory and Sean Clancy, who is the brother-in-law of Stoke City striker Peter Crouch. Solihull managed to get a consolation goal in the 74th minute though through Craig Hinton, who is the nephew of former England international Alan Hinton.

8/1/13 – FC Halifax Town 0-0 Solihull Moors

Halifax’s failure to gain promotion to achieve a third successive promotion meant that they would have to play another season in the Conference North, which is now known as the National League North. This meant playing two more games against Solihull – the first of which ended in a 0-0 draw, in the same manner as the last game played between the two teams at The Shay.

9/3/13 – Solihull Moors 0-3 FC Halifax Town

The second game played between Town and The Moors during the 2012/13 season proved to be more of an exciting fixture than the first one, as The Shaymen were able to put three goals in the back of the Solihull keeper’s net. Liam Needham’s 19th minute goal meant that Halifax went in to half time 1-0 up, whilst Jon Worthington and Danny Gardner’s second half efforts confirmed the fact that all three points would be heading up to West Yorkshire.

19/8/17 – Solihull Moors 0-1 FC Halifax Town

For the first time in four years, Halifax played a game at Solihull’s Damson Park. Despite Solihull putting pressure on Town throughout the game, Billy Heath’s men were able to secure their first three points of the 2017/18 season thanks to Adam Morgan’s 28th minute goal.

24/3/18 – FC Halifax Town 0-0 Solihull Moors

Halifax came into this game on a real high, as they were on a five-game unbeaten streak under then new-manager Jamie Fullarton. This wasn’t enough to prevent a third goalless draw at home to Solihull though, but it could have all been different had on-loan striker Mike Fondop-Talom not blazed his effort well over the bar after finding himself one on with Moors keeper Max O’Leary.
