Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. Today we have Salford City as visitors, and I must say I enjoyed our visit to Moor Lane earlier this season, apart from the fact that local “beasties” bit my legs to pieces, causing the need for antibiotics later in the week. A fascinating evening’s entertainment saw me pay less for ground admission than for a pint in a local pub! I cannot see either of these happenings being repeated today; let’s hope for entertainment on the pitch instead.
Talking of being entertained brings me to our forthcoming Race Night, which is on Friday March 31st. Held in conjunction with the local RAOB, the venue is the Belgrave Social Club on Claremount Road. We are currently seeking Race and Horse Sponsors (£10 and £3 respectively), with the Race Sponsorship presenting an advertising opportunity for local businesses. Should you wish to back us with either option, just speak to any Supporters Club Committee member. It would also be nice if individuals, couples and families could join us on the night, where you can be assured of having a good laugh as well as the chance to win on the betting.
Two of our other fundraising ideas have been put on the back-burner for this season, namely the sponsored walk and the Car “Dash” around Conference North grounds. It’s just a shortage of time and resources which has led to the decision to wait. Hopefully, we will resurrect these initiatives in the not too distant future.
Meanwhile, we have the Club’s End of Season raffle to manage, and many of you can expect to receive a small allocation of tickets through your letterboxes a week or two from now.
It always amazes me how fast we move on from one year to the next – a phenomenon you will be aware increases with age. At least we know we can rely on our faithful fans for support however quickly things move along!
