Salford City succumbed FC Halifax Town to our first defeat of the season as they claimed their first victory thanks to former Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney’s double.

Rooney put Salford ahead shortly after 10 minutes with a glancing header. Before Matthew Kosylo tapped in from close range in the 73rd minute. however, that wasn’t enough to claim Shaymen a point as Rooney prodded the ball in 10 minutes later from a corner.

Kosylo spoke to Jordan Hart after the match and said “I thought we should have come away with a point. It was a bitter pill to swallow.

When asked about his goal he replied “I peeled off from the defender and Dayle [Southwell] put a great ball into the box and I just got a tap in there, I’ll take them all day.

680 fans made the journey from West Yorkshire down the M62. When asked Kosylo responded to the excellent supporting saying “they’ve been quality. We appreciate it and it really does spur us on.

Town will be looking to get back to winning ways when we host Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday 18th August 3PM kick off at the MBi Shay Stadium.

Looking ahead to the game Kosylo commented “we will go into it with the confidence we had before hand and we will be fine.”
