AFC Halifax look to return to winning ways on Saturday when they face IFA high flyers Rochdale after they came off second best of a 5-3 result against Salford a fortnight ago.

The tangerines head into Saturdays fixture facing arguably one of the IFA’s most well established squads of the 2018/19 season.

Last season saw AFC Halifax’s highest ever league finish coming out runners up of the IFA English league whereas Rochdale finished 6th, however, history between the two clubs would be in favour of the Dale after some results over the years which do not need to be mentioned. One result which will be in the minds of both clubs however would be the last time the teams met at Lightcliffe Academy when AFC Halifax saw a flawless performance lead to their first ever victory over Rochdale in there 12 year existence. This was to be out shadowed in the return fixture were Rochdale came prepared and came out run away victors to end AFC Halifax’s magnificent unbeaten run which saw them climb to the top spot.

TEAM NEWS: JB may have to sit this one out after reports of young Lewis Blackburn caused him to need an amputation in Monday night’s training session.  Callum Hannan returns to the squad after finding his bottom from when it fell out last season. Tom Ashton is still out of the team after being spotted driving his worldy mother around Pellon lane since last Sunday and Miles has been dropped after reportedly having yet another fracas with manager John Barker.  Swanny sees his name on the team sheet for the first time this season after impressing the gaffer at training whilst Captain Bobbins Heaton is 50/50 after encountering the Saville Park leaf spider.

Following the game the squad will be travelling to ‘The Old Post Office’  before heading to the Shay to watch the Shaymen in action against the televised fixture against Chesterfield, (17:15PM Kick Off). All are welcome to join. If you would be interested in joining AFC Halifax please email afchalifax2006@yahoo.com or join us before the town game at the old post office.
